Engine Will Not Start

• Stale fuel: Drain old gasoline and refill with fresh fuel before starting.
• Choke position: Use full choke for cold starts, then slowly move to run after the engine warms.
• Spark plug issue: Inspect, clean, gap, or replace the spark plug if the engine cranks but will not fire.
• Primer problem: Press the primer bulb several times and check for cracked fuel lines or blocked carburetor passages.

Auger or Impeller Not Turning

• Broken auger belt: Remove the belt cover and inspect for wear, stretching, cracking, or breakage.
• Shear pins broken: Replace damaged shear pins with correct Troy-Bilt shear bolts only.
• Control cable loose: Adjust the auger engagement cable if the handle moves but the auger does not engage.

Poor Snow Throwing Performance

• Clogged chute: Stop the engine, remove the key, wait for all moving parts to stop, then clear with the clean-out tool.
• Wet or heavy snow: Reduce ground speed and take smaller passes.
• Worn scraper blade: Replace the scraper blade or shave plate when snow is left behind.
• Loose impeller belt: Check belt tension if snow discharge distance is weak.

Drive System Problems

• No forward or reverse movement: Inspect the drive belt, friction wheel, wheel pins, and traction cable adjustment.
• Slipping while moving: Replace worn friction disc rubber or adjust drive control linkage.
• Hard to steer: Check tire pressure, wheel lock pins, and steering trigger cable adjustment on equipped models.

Chute and Control Issues

• Chute will not rotate: Inspect chute crank, gear teeth, cable routing, and frozen snow buildup.
• Deflector stuck: Lubricate pivot points and remove packed ice around the chute deflector.
• Electric start not working: Confirm outlet power, inspect extension cord, and check starter button connections.

Safety note: Always shut off the engine, remove the ignition key, disconnect the spark plug wire, and wait for all moving parts to stop before servicing. Never clear the discharge chute by hand.
